‘Bike
for Help’ contributed significantly to Ciomal’s continouing
efforts to eradicate Leprosy in Cambodia. As the only organisation
supporting the ‘Cambodian National Leprosy Program’ Ciomal
plays a vital role in helping leprosy patients throughout this
poor country.
Countrywide acitivities carried out by Ciomal and supported by
Bike for Help are:

- National
Leprosy Week Campaign 2002 aiming to increase the awareness
of leprosy in the community.
- Supervision
activities with regular visits to every province every 4 months.
- Loans to
20 former patients to start a small business or to buy livestock
for farming
Hospital
Kien Khleang (Ciomal’s centre for leprosy patients
in Phnom Penh where patients come from all over the country)
- Training
of students specialising in physiotherapy for leprosy patients
- The physiotherapy
department has been reequipped and moved to a larger area
- Reintegration
programm for former patients from the hospital
103 cases of surgery (claw hand, drop foot, cataract, etc.)
